Venice Film Festival
The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world and one of the most prestigious events in the international film calendar. The 84th Venice International Film Festival takes place on the Venice Lido from 1 to 11 September 2027, welcoming filmmakers, stars and industry leaders from around the world.
The World's Oldest Film Festival
First held in 1932, the Venice Film Festival is part of La Biennale di Venezia and is famous for awarding the Golden Lion, one of the most coveted prizes in cinema. Each year, world premieres, red-carpet arrivals at the Palazzo del Cinema and glamorous parties bring an extraordinary atmosphere to the Lido and the city of Venice. Many films that premiere in Venice go on to success during awards season.
Festival Highlights
The festival programme includes the official competition for the Golden Lion, as well as the Orizzonti section for new trends in cinema, out-of-competition gala screenings and the Venice Immersive programme for virtual reality and new media. Red-carpet evenings at the Palazzo del Cinema draw photographers and fans from around the world, while exclusive parties take place in hotels, palazzi and private venues across the Lido and the city.
Arrive in Style by Sea
Venice is a city best experienced from the water. During the festival, a private yacht offers a stylish and private base away from the crowds. Guests can cross the lagoon to the Lido for screenings and events, then return on board to relax and entertain in complete privacy. Arriving at a premiere or party by tender is one of the most memorable ways to experience Venice. Water taxis and the busy vaporetto services are often crowded during festival week, so having your own tender and crew makes moving between the city, the Lido and the islands far easier.
A Venue for Entertaining
For production companies, brands and private guests, a yacht in Venice is a perfect venue for hosting. Welcome guests for cocktails at sunset with views of St Mark's Square, arrange a private dinner on deck after a premiere, or hold relaxed meetings away from the busy festival venues. Your crew takes care of the service, so you can focus on your guests.
Explore Venice and the Lagoon
Beyond the festival, your yacht can take you through the Venetian Lagoon to the islands of Murano, famous for its glassmaking, colourful Burano with its lace and fishermen's houses, and peaceful Torcello. Back in the city, enjoy the Grand Canal, the Rialto and the historic palazzi, then return on board to escape the crowds.
Extend Your Charter Along the Adriatic
Early September is a wonderful time to cruise the Adriatic. The sea is still warm, the light is beautiful and the summer crowds have begun to leave. From Venice, your yacht can continue to Trieste, the coast of Slovenia or the Istrian peninsula in Croatia, with charming towns such as Rovinj and Poreč just a short cruise away.
Planning Your Venice Film Festival Yacht Charter
Berths in Venice are limited, especially during the festival, so early booking is strongly recommended. Larger yachts often berth in the city or at marinas around the lagoon, using tenders to reach the Lido and the historic centre. Consider how many guests you plan to host, whether you need accommodation on board, and whether you would like to combine the festival with a longer Adriatic cruise. Our team can also advise on the best days to be in Venice, as the opening night, major premieres and the closing awards ceremony are usually the busiest times on the Lido.
Venice Film Festival Yacht Charter Options
Venice Film Festival yacht charters can be tailored to suit every type of guest list and budget. A superyacht moored along the Riva dei Sette Martiri, close to St Mark's Square, offers one of the most spectacular addresses in the city, while a yacht in a lagoon marina provides a quieter, more private base. Day charters are ideal for hosting a premiere celebration or a sunset cruise across the lagoon, and longer charters give you a floating hotel with accommodation, entertaining space and a professional crew throughout the festival. Whatever the occasion, your yacht becomes a natural extension of your festival experience.
Enhance Your Experience with Super Yacht Agent
Super Yacht Agent (SYA) takes care of every detail of your Venice Film Festival yacht charter, from choosing the right yacht and securing a berth to arranging crew, catering, tenders and shore arrangements. With our knowledge of the Adriatic, we can plan the perfect itinerary before or after the festival, so you can enjoy Venice with complete ease.
